Mysuru, November 23, 2016: KSCA Tiger-cup, the inter-school cricket tournament organized by the Cycle Pure Agarbathies, India’s largest and the only Certified Carbon Neutral agarbathi manufacturer played the final match of the series today at SJCE Ground. Among the 14 schools that participated, Marimallapa’s High School, St. Joseph’s High School, Jayalakshmipuram, Abhinava Bharathi High School  and Sadvidya High School qualified for semi-finals leading St. Joseph’s High School, Jayalakshmipuram and Sadvidya High School into finals where Sadvidya High School proved their mettle with a glorious victory. After the tournament Sheshank S Bharadwaj was awarded as the Tiger Player of the tournament for his outstanding performance throughout the series.  Mr. Lingaraja S, Conservator of Forests, Director, BRT Tiger Reserve,  Mr. Pavan Ranga, Co-owner, Mysuru Warriors and Director, NR Group, Mr. Balachandar, Convenor, KSCA, Mysuru Zone and Mr. Joseph Hoover, Cricket Journalist were present at the award ceremony.

 

The tournament, initiated with the motive to spread awareness for the conservation of the endangered species of Tiger, leveraged on the love for cricket to bring awareness and encourage sustainable development. It was conceptualized by former India batsman Sandeep Patil to help spread the word about wildlife conservation and inclusive sustainable development. The objective of the initiative is to encourage the youth to assist the government, largely including the participation of the forest department, to help conserve our forests and wildlife, especially the Tiger.   Apart from spreading awareness the initiative recognizes meritorious forest watchers and guards.

 

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Pavan Ranga, Co-owner, Mysuru Warriors and Director, NR Group said, “At NR Group, we persistently put our efforts towards savings our ecosystem and extend our conscious support to sustainable development. After the success we’ve had last year, we believe cricket is an excellent platform to build community bonding and profess our love and concern to save Tigers via strong community participation. Also, it is an opportunity for the young aspiring cricketers to showcase their skills while supporting a cause.”

 

In the month of April / May 2016, Tiger Cup tournament was conducted in Bangalore where 103 matches were played at Global Academy of Technology, Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Loyola School Ground, Bannerghatta Road.  In all, 56 teams participated in the category of under-12, under -14 and under -17 for this cause tournament. Cycle Pure Agarbathies, also strengthened their commitment  of conserving the wildlife by donating the amount of Rs. 1 lakh to Mr. Pramod, the forest guard of BRT Tiger Reserve.
