Cycle Pure Agarbathies felicitates Forest Guard Manju at KSCA Tiger Cup 2019 in Bengaluru

Mysuru, June 1, 2019: To strengthen its commitment towards sustainable development, Cycle Pure Agarbathies, from the house of agarbathi to aerospace conglomerate NR Group today conducted the closing ceremony of Tiger Cup 2019. The tournament has been designed to create awareness about sustainable development along with nurturing the young cricket talents across the state. The event that began on15th April 2019 at the Global Village Tech Park ground, Bengaluru, saw participation of 56teams.

Apart from spreading awareness, the initiative also recognized meritorious forest guard Manju, who had braved the odds and risked his life to rescue forest guard Murugappa Goud, from the forest fire in the Kalkere Range, Bandipur Tiger Reserve. He was felicitated by India’s most consistent opening batsman Mayank Aggarwal, with the prestigious Wildlife Service Award 2019. He also received a cheque for Rs. One lakh from Cycle Pure Agarbaties which was handed by Mr. Harishchandan, for his service in wildlife protection at Kalkere Wildlife Range, Bandipur Reserve.

The Tiger Cup is an inter-school competition for Under 12, Under 14 and Under-16 category that leveraged the love for cricket and encouraged sustained efforts to protect tigers.  115 matches were played under the tournament with 56 teams.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Arjun Ranga, Managing Director, Cycle Pure Agarbathies said, “Cricket is by far one of the most-adored games in our nation. The affection for cricket among the fans starts at an extremely youthful age is a testament to the undying love the nation has for the sport. The Tiger cup looks forward to nurture talent, and applaud the efforts of the forest guard as well”

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Joseph Hoover, an eminent sports journalist who has been associated with the Tiger Cup from its inception, says, “Surely, the Tiger Cup was conceptualized by former India batsman Sandeep Patil to motivate our forest guards and watchers, who like our soldiers, are our unsung heroes, to spread the word about wildlife conservation and Cycle Pure Agarbathies has added more value to it by carrying it forward effectively and successfully with the immense support. The initiative is a noble endeavour rand for this I would like to congratulate the team behind it.”

Tiger Cup tournament was conducted in Bangalore in the month of April and May in 2019 where 115 matches were played at the Global Village Tech Park ground. In all, 56 teams participated in the under-12, under -14 and under -17. The objective of the initiative was solely to encourage the youth to assist the government, largely the forest department, to help conserve our forests and wildlife, especially the tiger.
